01 / Problem

Fixing a slow Windows PC means jumping between Task Manager, the Services console, uninstallers and storage tools, with no shared context and no safety net.

02 / Role

Designed, built and released as a personal project: scope, Rust backend, interface, installer and update pipeline.

03 / Decisions

Four choices that shaped the build

  1. D1

Tauri 2 with a native Rust core

System calls live in Rust; the UI runs on the WebView2 runtime Windows already ships. The installer stays near 5 MB instead of bundling a browser engine.

  2. D2

The backend re-checks every destructive action

The UI confirms; Rust validates again before ending a process or removing anything. Critical processes are protected and Microsoft's built-in tasks excluded.

  3. D3

    Verified self-updates

Updates arrive from GitHub Releases and are checked against a SHA-256 hash and signature before installing in place.

  4. D4

    Elevation only where needed

Runs as a normal user; service control and the standby-list purge request Administrator rights. Every action is written to an activity log.
